Room 92 (rental unit 7) used to be connected to the main house through the filled doorway evidenced in the pictures below. Again, the House of Pansa was sectioned off to accommodate the rental business. This room is more interesting than the other simple tabernae along the south street side because it also has a back room (room 93). If we look at the house plan, room 92 and the room to which it once connected (73) seem to parallel room 87 and 72 which have been left in communication. Perhaps room 93, the room to which 92 now connects was once a part of the eastern bakery complex in correspondence with the western side of the house. Once again, then, renovations were made to reflect the demands of rentors. As you can see from the filled door pictures taken from both sides, the ground level of room 92 is significantly lower than that of room 73. The blocking up must have occurred at an early point in the development of the insula.
